Das Einsatzprojekt

The project is targeting youth development in which young people gain skills and knowledge necessary to lead civic engagement, education reform and community organizing activities. The project is expecting to use youth friendly delivery methods that includes various sports, music, arts, workshops etc.

Die Aufgaben der*des Freiwilligen

  • Assisting in organization and coordination of sports activities for the young people in the community.
  • Assist in cross cultural activities aiming to increase youth leadership skills.
  • Assisting in coordinating weekly Youth talks where various social, cultural and economic topics are presented by young people from the community.
  • Co- organize and coordinate various youth passion projects like arts, music performance, exbhition, workshops etc. with the aim of enhancing youth leadership skills in the community.
  • Participating in various Youth community action activities including volunteering, awareness raising on various issues etc.

Anforderungen

  • skills, knowledge or Interest on sports and Youth issues
  • English language skills and an interest to learn the local Language (Kiswahili). Optional language classes will be provided.
  • Interest to work with teenagers and Youth
  • Open minded and ready to be challenged
  • Interested in other cultures and local realities
  • Patient and committed, Creative and easy to adopt to the situations

Einsatzort/Unterkunft

Chamazi is an urban community located in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam City (about 30km away to the South). With a population of approximately 100,000 inhabitants, the community is situated in a beautiful area still surrounded by nature. Chamazi is accessible by both public and private transport. Most social service facilities like health center, security, telecommunications, banking, shopping places can be reached easily.

Volunteers will be accommodated in the host families located in an eco-village. There are standard houses with three bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The houses are surrounded by nature and green vegetation. Basic accommodation facilities will be provided, and you should expect to share room with either host family member or other volunteer from the same or other projects. Depending on the availability of host families; volunteers shall expect to stay as well at the Youth accommodation in the community.
